| A lifelong Croton resident and 2021 graduate of CHHS, Matthea joined Croton EMS as a sophomore in our Youth Corps. She went on to serve as Youth Corps Captain for two years before becoming the youngest EMT in Croton EMS history at just 17, after New York State began allowing 17-year-olds to certify during the pandemic! As an adult member, Matthea has been very active on numerous committees. Though she's lived largely out of state for the past five years, she still runs calls when home and joins meetings remotely. Matthea graduated summa cum laude from Emory University in 2025 with a degree in Biology and Nutrition, where she researched cystic fibrosis and nutrition and gave oral presentations at national conferences, including the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference. During her gap year, she worked as an ER tech in Columbus, GA, and served as a designated religious group leader for the U.S. Army at Fort Benning. Matthea just started at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in an accelerated three-year MD program, to be followed by residency in Emergency Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. When she's not studying or running calls, the future Dr. Schor enjoys working out, going to the beach, and baking sourdough. |
