| The Epworth Community Volunteer Firemen, INC. was recently awarded a grant to purchase firefighter protective gear from the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors. The grant program is in its eighth year and this will mark one million dollars awarded to volunteer fire and EMS agencies in Dubuque County by the Board of Supervisors. We will use the money to continue the replacement of our firefighter turnout gear to include helmets, boots, coats and pants as some of the gear has reached its end of life as required by NFPA. The cost of protective clothing has doubled in the past five years and we are using all fundraising efforts, grants, memorials and donations to complete the purchase for all members over the next couple years. The Epworth Fire Department has been awarded over $70,000 since the grant program was instituted to honor Fire Chief Tom Hancock who also served as a State Senator and Dubuque County Supervisor. THANK YOU! |
