We are saddened to share the loss of one of our own

Philip Vanderlee passed away peacefully on Monday following a courageous battle with cancer. Phil has been a volunteer firefighter for over 5 decades, serving with us at West Webster for the past 46 years. Prior to us, he also served with the Barnard Fire Department and the Nicoma Park Fire Department in Oklahoma. Phil was also a Vietnam Veteran serving with the U.S. Air Force.

Phil was an avid member of our fire prevention team. Many may remember him assisting with the EDITH house at our open house for several years. He also conducted numerous fire prevention visits for schools and youth groups, along with station tours over the years.

Outside of the firehouse, Phil was very committed to the Boy Scouts, volunteering in many different capacities over the years.

Those who knew Phil would tell you he was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all.
