It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that the Officers and Members of the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. announce the passing of Charter Member/Past Chief Byrd J. Raby.

Byrd passed away at his home in Tennessee on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Byrd served many offices during his tenure, such as Engineer, Fire Chief and Board of Directors. He was our last living charter member at the time of his passing.

Funeral Arrangements
All services will be held at Potomac Heights VFD & R.S.

Friday, October 23:
2–4 pm – Viewing/Visitation

6 pm – Viewing/Visitation

7 pm – Masonic Memorial Service

Firemen’s Prayers to follow

Saturday, October 24:
9–10 am – Viewing/Visitation

10 am – Service

11 am – Last Alarm & Depart Station

Interment at Mt. Rest Cemetery in La Plata, MD

Repast to follow at Potomac Heights VFD & R.S.
