🚒 It was another busy week for the SVFD, with a total of 85 Fire & EMS calls! 🚑

In between emergency calls, our members held weekly training, attended the Somers High School Community Service Fair, stood by at Friday night’s football game, and participated in yesterday’s Halloween Preserves Parade. 🎃

Our members continue to show up day and night, and they to try their best to help our community.

A few notable calls that we responded to this past week:

🚨 Incident Summary: At 10:33am, Somers Fire & EMS was dispatched to an MVA with unknown injuries. Shortly after dispatch, 60 Control updated units that they were receiving multiple reports of entrapment and serious injuries. Given the update & Incident location, responding units then requested assistance from Croton Falls FD with their Rescue and additional manpower. Somers VFD, Croton Falls FD and a passing by North Salem Ambulance arrived to find a 2 car MVA, with no entrapment. North Salem EMS and 2 Somers EMS ambulances quickly tended to all of the patients, while fire units secured the vehicles and the scene. The road was closed in all directions for several hours. 🗓️Date/Time: October 16th, 2026, 13:07

📍Location: Granite Springs Rd & Mahopac Avenue

🚨Incident Summary: Shortly after clearing the first MVA, Somers Fire & EMS was dispatched to numerous additional calls, including another MVA with reported entrapment, involving live wires down on an occupied vehicle. Somers Fire and EMS units arrived to find a single vehicle MVA, with wires down on the vehicle and in the roadway. Units secured the area, and made verbal contact with the sole occupant who reported no injuries. NYSEG arrived, and de-energized the power lines and vehicle. The occupant was able to then self extricate and was then evaluated by Somers EMS. Somers Fire units remained on scene securing the vehicle and keeping the area closed for NYSEG to make necessary repairs.
