| The Township Of Hamilton Rescue Squad was on scene providing patient care, with assistance from AtlantiCare Paramedics. The Township of Hamilton Police Department also assisted with scene operations and safety. Our firefighters were responsible for establishing and securing a safe landing zone for the medical helicopter. π Why is the fire department needed for a helicopter landing zone? Landing a medical helicopter requires much more than finding an open area. Firefighters must identify potential hazards, including overhead power lines, trees, loose debris, vehicles, and other obstacles that could interfere with the aircraft. Our crews also secure the landing zone, keep unauthorized personnel at a safe distance, provide fire protection, and coordinate with EMS and flight personnel to ensure safe landing and takeoff operations. During serious motor vehicle accidents, air medical transportation can provide critically injured patients with rapid access to specialized trauma care. Having trained firefighters on scene helps ensure these operations are conducted safely and efficiently. πππ Teamwork Makes the Difference! Incidents like this demonstrate the importance of multiple emergency services working together toward one common goal. π Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad: Providing emergency medical care, assessing and stabilizing the patient, and coordinating patient treatment and transportation. π AtlantiCare Paramedics: Providing advanced life support, specialized medical interventions, and additional critical care support alongside the rescue squad. π Township of Hamilton Police Department: Assisting with scene security, traffic control, and maintaining a safe working environment for emergency personnel. π Fire Departments: Establishing and securing the helicopter landing zone, identifying potential hazards, and providing emergency support during aircraft operations. π SouthSTAR Air Medical: Providing advanced medical capabilities and air transportation for patients requiring specialized care. ππ§ A Special Shout-Out to Our Dispatchers! We also want to recognize the dedicated men and women of our Emergency Dispatch Center, who play an absolutely critical role in incidents like this. While firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and paramedics are working at the scene, our dispatchers are behind the scenes making sure everyone has the information and resources they need. π Laureldale Fire / Rescue is a 100% volunteer fire company. Our members leave their homes, families, and jobs to answer the call whenever our community needs assistance. Whether itβs fighting fires, responding to motor vehicle accidents, or assisting with medical helicopter operations, our volunteers remain committed to serving and protecting our community. Different uniforms. Different responsibilities. One common mission β helping those in need. Thank you to all the agencies involved for their professionalism, dedication, and teamwork! #LaureldaleFireRescue #Call26430 #SouthSTAR #TownshipOfHamiltonRescue #AtlantiCareParamedics #TownshipOfHamiltonPolice #EmergencyDispatchers #ThinGoldLine #AirMedical #LandingZone #VolunteerFirefighters #FirstResponders #Teamwork #AtlanticCounty #MaysLanding #TownshipOfHamilton |
