Weekly Training

What a week of training it was, both at home and away!

As for home, this week’s training topic was our quarterly refresher training for our Personal Safety/Bailout Systems. These rope systems are carried by each firefighter for the purpose of self-rescue from above a ground floor. We train on these systems quarterly to maintain these skills as muscle memory, as these systems would need to be deployed rapidly, under intense fire conditions.

Our “away” training took our members to the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services Fire Training Center, for Hazardous Materials Training. Over a dozen of our members joined members from several other fire departments throughout the county; and reviewed Decontamination procedures, metering, PPE donning & doffing, and downed technician rescue.

Training on these wide ranges of skills, keeps our firefighters well prepared to respond to all types of emergencies, and keeps us at the ready to keep our City safe!
