| On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at approximately 11:13 a.m., Engine 102 from the New Windsor Fire & Hose Company No. 1 responded to assist with a serious motor vehicle collision involving entrapment at the intersection of New Windsor Road and Old New Windsor Pike, near the Westminster Wastewater Treatment Plant. Carroll County Emergency Communications received multiple reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a red Honda Civic and a silver Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, with at least one occupant trapped inside a vehicle. Due to the reported entrapment, multiple fire, rescue, and emergency medical units were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency personnel encountered a two-vehicle collision with significant damage to both vehicles. The Honda Civic sustained extensive damage to the driver's side and passenger compartment, while the Chevrolet Tahoe sustained substantial front-end damage. Chief 3-2 Milewski assumed the "New Windsor Road Command" and began coordinating rescue and emergency medical operations. Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS Battalion Chief 101 Halterman was assigned as the Incident Scene Safety Officer, overseeing the safety of personnel operating at the incident. With an occupant trapped inside the heavily damaged Honda Civic, crews from New Windsor Engine 102 and Westminster Engine 32 worked together to perform the extrication. Their coordinated efforts allowed rescue operations to begin immediately without waiting for additional specialized rescue resources to arrive. While firefighters worked to free the trapped occupant, EMS personnel provided patient assessment and care. Due to the nature of the collision and the potential severity of injuries, Maryland State Police Trooper 3 was requested to provide medical transportation to an area trauma center. A second patient was evaluated by emergency medical personnel and transported by Medic 109 to a local hospital. Following the completion of rescue operations and patient transportation, New Windsor Road Command was terminated, and the incident scene was turned over to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office for further investigation. |
