Today was a very active day for the volunteers of the Newtown Square Fire Company!

It all started at 7:37am with the dispatch for an accident involving a school bus which was overturned at Boot Road and West Chester Pike. Squad 41 and Chief 41 (Chief Chris Young) arrived to find a two vehicle accident, one of which was a small school bus on its side. The bus was occupied by children and two adults. Chief 41 declared a Medical Trauma Incident, which put all local hospitals on notice that they may be receiving multiple patients.
As a result, 8 people were transported to area hospitals for evaluation.

At 8:52 am the fire company (and assisting companies) responded to a residential home on Wyloa Farm Road for a house fire with smoke in the kitchen. Chief 41 and Engine 41 arrived on scene and quickly determined the smoke was from toaster oven the homeowner had just used. All assisting companies were recalled.

At 0941 am the fire company was dispatched to Porsche of the Main Line for an automatic fire alarm. This was determined to be a false alarm.

Later in the day, at 4:59 pm the fire company responded to the Veterinary Eye Center, 3620 Chapel Road, for a possible gas leak with two occupants of the building feeling ill. Engine 41 responded along with EMS units and determined there was no gas leak. Employees were evaluated on scene and were not transported to the hospital. While clearing the scene of this incident units were dispatched to Sunrise Assisted Living, 333 South Newtown Street Road, for a fire alarm. This alarm was also determined to be a false alarm.
