| This morning at 5:00 am our NEST smoke detectors started sounding. Thankfully my fire Chief husband had placed a smoke detector in the garage. The garage was full of smoke. My son ran to the boiler while my daughter saw on the workbench a small fire. A RYOBI battery that was not on a charger and sitting on a work bench was in thermal runaway. She grabbed it and threw outside. We have a ton of those batteries which are now all outside. Nest also alerted everyone’s phone. So had we not been home we would have been alerted. I can’t recommend it enough. Looking at fireproof boxes now to store them. |
