Safe Charging Habits Checklist (2026)

General Charging Safety
• Use manufacturer‑approved chargers — avoid cheap off‑brand adapters.
• Inspect cords and chargers for fraying, bent prongs, scorch marks, or loose connections.
• Charge on hard, flat surfaces — never on beds, couches, blankets, or under pillows.
• Keep chargers away from combustibles like paper, clothing, curtains, or furniture.
• Unplug devices once fully charged to prevent overheating and battery stress.
• Avoid overnight charging when possible — charge while awake and alert.


Device & Battery Awareness
• Stop using any device that feels hot, smells odd, swells, leaks, or smokes.
• Replace damaged batteries immediately — do not continue charging them.
• Keep devices out of direct sunlight or hot vehicles while charging.
• Do not cover devices while charging; allow airflow around them.

High‑Capacity Battery Items (E‑Bikes, Scooters, Tools)
• Charge large battery devices outdoors or in a well‑ventilated area away from exits.
• Use only the charger that came with the device — mismatched chargers are a major fire risk.
• Store batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use.
• Avoid charging immediately after heavy use — let batteries cool first.

Household Setup
