| A native of Rockville Centre, NY, Don has been a member of Croton EMS for six years. He is also a longtime member of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, where he has served since 2009 and is currently a Lieutenant with the Chemical Engine Company. When he is not answering calls, Don is an accomplished Broadway lighting designer and a Professor of Design at the Yale School of Drama. He has won two Tony Awards, for The Lion King and the 2008 revival of South Pacific, and has earned 16 Tony nominations! Last season, he designed the Tony-winning musical Schmigadoon! and the 2025 revival of Ragtime, and his upcoming Broadway projects include Dolly! A True American Musical at the St. James Theatre and The Sound of Music at Lincoln Center Theater. His film and television credits include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ocean's 8, Spirited, and Smash. Fun fact: despite a career spent under the bright lights, Don's undergraduate degree is a BS in Forestry from the University of Maine! Outside of EMS, firefighting, and the theater, Don enjoys running and hiking, and he is currently working toward his private pilot's license. |
