That’s where smoke alarms come in.

Take a few minutes today to walk through your home and check yours.

🏠 Make sure you have smoke alarms throughout your home, including inside sleeping rooms, outside sleeping areas, and on every level.

🔊 Test your alarms regularly.

🔋 Replace batteries when needed unless your alarm uses a sealed long-life battery.

📅 Check the manufacture date. Smoke alarms don’t last forever and generally need to be replaced when they reach 10 years old.

And don’t ignore the chirp!

A chirping smoke alarm isn’t annoying you for fun — it’s trying to tell you something needs attention.

One small device can provide the early warning you and your family need to get outside safely.

Tonight, before you go to bed, take a minute and press that TEST button.

It might be the most important thing you do today.
