Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department
Incident Report – Motor Vehicle Accident

At 5:26 p.m., the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department, along with Station 3 – Marion Volunteer Fire Department and Station 8 – Lower Somerset EMS, was dispatched to the area of Crisfield Highway and Silver Lane for a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment. No additional information was available at the time of dispatch.

Deputy Chief Bradshaw was the first fire department officer to arrive on scene. Upon arrival, he assessed the situation and determined that there was no entrapment. Deputy Chief Bradshaw established command and began coordinating the response.

Rescue Engine 202 responded, staffed by Assistant Chief Cavanaugh, an engineer, and four firefighters. Ambulance 801 also responded to the scene. Ladder 2 responded with Captain Lee and an engineer.

Upon further assessment, Deputy Chief Bradshaw determined that Station 3 – Marion Volunteer Fire Department was no longer needed and subsequently cancelled their response.

At the direction of command, Ladder 2 was positioned at the intersection of Crisfield Highway and Silver Lane to block oncoming traffic and provide scene protection for emergency personnel operating at the accident. The Crisfield Police Department and Maryland State Police also responded to assist.

EMS personnel evaluated those involved in the accident. No patients required ground transportation from the scene.

Once the situation was brought under control and all necessary operations were completed, command was terminated after approximately 36 minutes on scene. The incident scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police for further investigation.

All Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department units subsequently cleared the scene and returned to quarters.
