| At 1205 hours, Station 2 was alerted for the engine and tanker to 13420 Ryceville Road in Charles County for the working house fire.
Engine 23, Tanker 2, and Chief 22B made the response.
Engine 23 arrived and picked up Charles Engine 23's supply line. Crews reported to side "Charlie" for a well advanced basement fire that had extended into Division 1 as well as the attic. Chief 22B was assigned as the "Basement Division supervisor".
A "Mayday" was called during fire attack when a member from Charles Truck 3 operating on Division 1 fell into the basement division, the RIT team was activated, however the firefighter was able to exit on side Charlie on his own with no injuries.
All crews were evacuated and a defensive attack initiated due to a failure of the floor on Division 1. Command requested a second alarm to bring more manpower to the scene.
Engine 23 established water supply out of a dump tank at the scene. Several tankers shuttled water to the scene from a nearby fill site.
Units operated on the scene for almost four hours completing fire attack and extensive overhaul operations. |
