The two-minute drill is an essential firefighter training exercise where participants are required to put on their full structural firefighting protective gear—including bunker pants, boots, protective hood, turnout coat, helmet, self-contained breathing apparatus, and gloves—in two minutes or less.

This drill helps firefighters develop speed, discipline, muscle memory, and confidence, while also making certain that all protective equipment is worn and secured correctly.

Quick response is critical during emergencies, and the two-minute drill ensures firefighters are ready before arriving on the scene. On Thursday, several new members completed their first two-minute drill training. In addition, members performed a thorough truck inspection using the department’s new PSTRAX software.
