With our area experiencing high heat across the region, your Second District fire and EMS volunteers were dispatched for the report of a boat fire at the Piney Point Public Landing at 1720 Sunday evening, 14 August.

First arriving firefighters found a 20-foot engulfed in flames and began laying hose lines to extinguish the fire. Meanwhile, while firefighters were working the boat fire, EMS volunteers provided care to two patients who suffered burns to their lower extremities and requested a medevac at 1747.

The landing zone was established a short distance away from the public landing where Maryland State Police Trooper 6 transported the patients to burn center.
