Early Morning House Fire

Firefighters from the Firehouse Solutions Volunteer Fire Company responded to an early morning structure fire on Monday, September 21, after receiving reports of smoke coming from a two-story residence in the 500 block of Any Street Road.

At approximately 3:42 a.m., the county emergency communications center dispatched Engine 1, Truck 1, and Chief 1 to the reported residential fire. While responding, additional information indicated that flames were visible from a first-floor window and that the occupants had evacuated the home.

Chief 1 arrived on the scene and confirmed a working structure fire, with heavy smoke and fire showing from the first floor of the residence. The incident commander requested additional fire and emergency medical resources and established command.
Engine 1 arrived shortly afterward, and firefighters deployed a hose line through the front entrance to begin extinguishing the fire. Truck 1 personnel conducted a search of the residence to confirm that all occupants had safely exited while additional crews established a water supply and checked neighboring homes for potential fire extension.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and elevated temperatures inside the residence. Crews located the main body of fire in a first-floor living area and brought the flames under control within approximately 25 minutes of their arrival.

Once the fire was extinguished, personnel continued checking concealed spaces in the walls and ceilings to ensure that no hidden fire remained. Crews also ventilated the structure to remove smoke and conducted salvage operations to help protect personal belongings from further damage.

Two adults and one child were home when the fire started. All three occupants escaped before firefighters arrived. Emergency medical personnel evaluated the residents at the scene, and no injuries were reported.

The residence sustained significant fire and smoke damage. The occupants were unable to return home, and arrangements were made to assist them with temporary accommodations.

A total of 28 firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to the incident. Mutual aid companies assisted with fire suppression, water supply, and station coverage while Firehouse Solutions personnel operated at the scene.

Firefighters remained on location for approximately three hours before returning to service.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the county fire marshal's office.

A Reminder About Home Fire Safety
The Firehouse Solutions Volunteer Fire Company reminds residents that working smoke alarms and a practiced home escape plan can make a critical difference during a residential fire.

Smoke alarms should be installed on every level of the home, inside each bedroom, and outside sleeping areas. Residents should test their alarms regularly and replace units according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

Families are also encouraged to identify two ways out of every room and establish a designated meeting place outside the home. Once outside, remain there and call 911. Never reenter a burning building.
